Cell phones for soldiers:  Unused cell phones may be donated in Ms. Howardson’s room.  Recycled cell phone donations help send prepaid calling cards to soldiers overseas.

Lifetouch Spring Pictures:  Wednesday, February 1:  All students will need to have pictures taken.  You can decide whether or not to purchase any when the pictures arrive.  Selection forms for choosing a pose and background will be handed out in advisory on Monday, Jan. 30.  Please fill out the form and give it to the photographer on Feb. 1.

MS Chorus Concert is coming up on January 30 at 7 and 8 o’clock.  Practices will be Friday, Jan. 27 and Monday, Jan. 30.

Cell Phones for Soldiers:  If you have a cell phone that you’re no longer using, please consider recycling it.  The cell phone does not have to work.  Turn it in to Miss Howardson (rm. 26) during January.

Geography Bee classroom winners need to take the final round qualifying test by Jan. 19th.  The test can be taken in the morning, during directed study or after school.  Please see Mrs. Ottenbacher in rm. 42 to tak the test.

The KC Free Throw championship will be held on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 1:30 in the WMS gym.  Practice begins at 1:00.  Participants must be between the ages of 10 and 14 as of Jan. 1, 2012.

School will bne dismissed at 12:30 on Friday, January 20, due to teacher inservice.  Please remember to make arrangements to leave the building at 12:30 BEFORE coming to school on Friday.

From Mr. Brist:  WMS is a great school and I am glad our students enjoy “hanging out” here. Unfortunately, we have limitations on supervision after school. So for the safety and welfare of our kids and school, all students must chose one of the following options after school:

  • 1. Ride the bus
  • 2. Walk
  • 3. Get a ride (no later than 3:45)
  • 4. Walk or ride the bus to the Boys and Girls Club
  • 5. Go to Power Hour

Families are reminded to pick their student up by 3:45. All students who are here after 3:45 must report to a teacher’s classroom or Power Hour. Thank you for your help and cooperation this effort to improve the safety of our school.

Congratulations to Lexi Gloe and Alex Gauer.  They will be representing the middle school at the Elks Hoop Shoot on Sunday, Dec. 11th.

The 8th grade girls basketball team is looking for student managers.  If interested, please stop in the office.  They also need someone to run the clock for two home games on Dec. 19 and Jan. 3.  Clock runners get paid.  If interested, stop in the office.

The Food Drive ended with a bang on Friday.  The thermometer jumped from 447 on Tuesday to 2041 by Friday.  The 7th grade teams had the biggest numbers.  The Vikings donated 512 items.  The Wolves had almost half the building total with 969 items.  Way to go Wolves!!

Breakfast goes to the two advisories with the largest totals in their grade level.  The 7th grade winner was Mrs. Berner’s advisory; the 8th grade winner was Mrs. Jacobson’s.  Enjoy breakfast!
